Married With Children

Married with Children was a television show ,on FOX, about a very disfunctional family. Al Bundy was the father. He was a sleazy shoe salesman who never wanted to have sex with his wife. His wife Peg was sat at home and ate bon bons all day. His son Bud was a horny little creep that was always trying to get with girls. Last ,but not least, his daughter Kelly was a airhead.

The show was quite humerous and never turned serious. The additon of side characters such as the neighbors and Al's friends from the shoe store added flavor.

Sixteen Candles

Sixteen Candles is a about Samantha "Sam" Baker (Molly Ringwald), a sophomore in high school, and her life as a high school student. She's totally in love with JAKE RYAN, the hot senior stud of the school . Sam's older sister is getting married and in all the chaos her family forgets her 16th birthday. Anthony Micheal Hall plays a nerdy freshman. His goal is to impress his friends and get some action. Sam and The Geek are the main characters of the movie. * John Cusack makes an appearance. I think everyone kind can enjoy this movie because everybody went to high school, for the most part.

The Wonder Years

The Wonders Years prepared me for post elementary school life!!! I watched it religiously from 3rd grade to 5th grade. The show is about a kid named Kevin Arnold living during the 1960s/70s. He lives in the suburbs with his brother Wayne, sister Karen, and two parents Jack and Norma. He also has a best friend named Kevin and a crush on the girl across the street named Winnie. The show followed Kevin from his first day in 7th grade to middle of the summer after his junior year in high school. The show covers family problems, to friendship problems and of course young "love". I could write for days about how much I love this show but i'll spare you all that experience.

One of my favorite moments of the show is when a girl named Kevin breaks up with a girl named Becky Slater and she punches him. Kevin goes down for the count. I just remember saying that I need to avoid that at all costs.

*Yo, this was Boy Meets World before Boy Meets World was on. The star of Boy Meets World, Ben Savage, is also the younger brother of the star of The Wonder Years, Fred Savage.

Doug

I think everybody that was a little kid in the 90s loved Doug. It was the first Nick Toon made(a special cartoon made by Nick). It's about a 5th grader named Doug Funny who lives in Bluffington. His best friend is Skeeter a green guy, who I always thought was supposed to portray a black person. Much of the show revolves around Doug's crush Patty Mayonnaise. The show deals with the usual issues of bullies, love, friendship and family.

A second version of Doug came out in the mid 90s called "Brand Spankin New Doug". It was created by Disney. There were mixed feelings about this version because they made changes to the original.

I loved and still love this show. The original show a bit more risque in storyline. Which Doug was better the original or the newer one?

This clip is definitely is a tape over of Doug. Thought is was hilarious. NOT THE REAL EPISODE.

The Breakfast Club

The Breakfast Club is a film directed and written by John Hughes. Its about 5 high school kids all from different worlds but end up in Saturday morning detention with each other. There is the athlete, the princess, the nerd, the bad ass, and the wierdo. The film has a very mellow feel to it just like all the rest of John Hughes films. As I watched the movie it seemed as though that's how it would have played out in real life. Nothing too extreme actually occurs. It delves into the make-up of people's family life, friendships, romantic relationships, and perceptions of their world in high school. It shows that people can always relate to one another in some way. AND who doesn't love a Brat Pack movie?
Which one of the characters did you relate to the most?

Big Trouble in Little China

What else can we say about Kurt Russell in this whacked out classic. Ok. I'm going to recite what I remember about this movie from 6 times I saw it on TNT at 1:00 a.m. in 1998 (correct me if I'm wrong). Kurt Russell plays a truck driver that stumbles upon some demon/evil doing clan. The leader of the evil doers is more awkward than scary. Kim Cattrall plays the damsel in distress. Kurt meets up with martial arts specialists that help him save Kim Cattrall and defeat the magic evil doing clan. Now I know this is a really messed up explanation of the movie but anybody who saw it knows that's exactly what happened. Watch the trailer then rent the movie, actually just stay up on Friday night and the movie will find you.

I wonder how popular it was when it first came out because as stated earlier it was hot stuff on TNT in 1998.

Back to the Future

Back to the Future is one of the greatest movies ever made. I contains time travel, a crazy scientist and a cocky high school kid. Ok so those aren't the factors that determine a great movie, but the movie still contains all three of the previously mentioned. Micheal J. Fox portrays a high school kid that travels back in time to the days of when his parents were in high school. I think we all know the rest. Short trivia. Who was originally caste to play Marty McFly? Eric Stoltz!!!! Yeah, who is Eric Stoltz ? This movie never gets old and for that reason tnt and tbs play it every weekend. Is I, II, or III better?

Clarssa Explains it All

Here's the intro. It is very 90's. That's all there is to it.
Here is a link for the lyrics

Are You Afraid of the Dark?

Yes everyone. The day has arrived. We (which apparently only includes me) will will be discussing "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" This was hands down my 2nd most favorite show( "The Wonder Years" is first)!!! HaHa. Anybody who watched this show back in 1992 remembers the clown that would pop up in the intro. AAAHHHHH, where did it come from? It was eventually canceled in 1996 with a comeback from 1999-2000. The show comprised of a group of friends who called themselves The Midnight Society. They would sit around a campfire and every week one of the members would tell a spooky tale. Awesome!!!

Ok, so I'll bring up the arguement of which was better. "Goosebumps" or "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" I say AYAD. It was more authentic. The same kids would come every week so we could get a sense of their personalities and the tales were better. Goosebumps should have stayed on paper.

Rocko's Modern Life

Rocko's Modern Life was a cartoon on Nickelodeon about a Rocko(wallaby) and his friends Heffer(cow) and Flibert(turtle). It started airing in 1993 as the fourth original Nicktoon.

I always felt like the show was not intended for young children even when I was watching it. There were so many times when I would try to figure out what the cartoon meant or was trying to say. I'm sure if I were to watch them again I would get it. It was the type of show you either liked or you didn't.

Pete and Pete

Pete and Pete was a show about two brothers named Pete and thier adventures in their small town. It ran on Nickelodeon from 1993-1996. There were many memorable side characters such as Artie, the strongest man in the world.

I remember a lot of weird plots. Raise your hand if you remember the orange slush drink that destroyed brain cells during baseball games.

Let's Reminisce

This blog is all about classic t.v. and movies from the far back past of our childhood, 1995. Ha, I actually like to pretend like I was born in 1975 so I can reminisce about shows and movies that came on before I was born. Shows like "The Wonder Years", "Rocko's Modern Life", "Pete and Pete", "Are you Afraid of the Dark?", and many other shows are fair game here. Get to Reminiscing!!!!
